William Genito

SALISBURY — William Genito, 86, died at Noble Horizons on Feb. 12, 2011. He was the husband of Rose (Millies) Genito.

Bill was born Sept. 9, 1924, the son of Giustina (Anelli) and Ralph Genito.

A graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, he served as a Marine in World War II in the South Pacific. Bill was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign wars.

He volunteered for decades with the Lakeville Hose Company.

Bill worked at the Salisbury School for many years, until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Deborah Genito, and her husband, Michael Langevin; two grandchildren, Henry and Sophia; and many nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his five brothers, Anthony, Mike, Benjamin, Dominic and Ralph Genito; and his four sisters, Lena Ballister, Lise Dean, Philomena Swenor and Mary Skarupa.

Memorial donations may be made to the Noble Horizons Employee Holiday fund, as thanks for all their support of Bill in his last days. The family’s thanks also go to the Salisbury hospice team for their support.

An intimate family gathering and service was held at the Noble Horizons chapel on Feb. 12. A graveside ceremony and a celebration of Bill’s life will be held this spring or summer; all those who knew and loved Bill are invited. Arrangements are under the care of the Valentine Funeral Home in Millerton.
