Washington wetlands law on the books


WASHINGTON — Local Law No. 1 of 2011, entitled, “Wetlands and Watercourses Law of the Town of Washington,” was adopted by the Washington Town Board on Thursday, May 12. The purpose of the local law it to protect the health, safety and welfare of the Washington community by preventing harm to the wetlands, as stated in the resolution. The term“wetlands” applies to diverse water bodies and is referred to in the law as “regulated areas.”
