Trying to find lost days on school calendar

CORNWALL — School may have been closed for the week following the Oct. 29 storm, but Cornwall Consolidated School remained a busy place.

The entire town was without power at one point — the majority was out for days. The last restoration was reportedly at about noon on Nov. 4. The school shelter, running on generator power, was open from Saturday night through Friday morning. Cold and the lack of water and cooking capability brought as many as a dozen people to seek shelter overnight, and up to two dozen for hot lunches. About 12 volunteers helped out.
