Budget planning for 2012

CORNWALL — The Jan. 3 selectmen’s meeting offered a particularly short agenda, with one main item: setting dates for budget workshops.

Fiscal year 2012-13, which begins July 1, is already shaping up to be a year with some challenges along with the usual unknowns.

The Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department will not be able to stay within its operating budget for the current year. First Selectman and volunteer firefighter Gordon Ridgway said the main problem is that there has been an unusually high number of repairs to the firetrucks.
