Harry Potter fans everywhere got out their capes, wands and spellbooks for the midnight premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” the final movie in the series, which opened in local cinemas at 12:05 a.m. on Friday, July 15.

“It was an epic moment in the history of cinema,” said Carol Sadlon, owner of the Torrington Cinerom and the Millerton Moviehouse.

The tickets for The Moviehouse showing were sold out days in advance. Although the movie played in only one theater, crowds of people were lined up outside the doors.
