Selectmen whittle away at spending plan

SALISBURY — The Board of Selectmen held a special meeting Thursday afternoon, March 17, and removed $88,387 in proposed spending from the third draft version of the proposed municipal budget for the coming fiscal year (which begins July 1, 2011).

Draft budget number four has a bottom line of $4,960,596, an increase over this year’s budget of $66,779, or 1.3 percent.

Draft budget number three, which First Selectman Curtis Rand said last week needed to be whittled down, called for $5,048,983, an increase of $155,166 or 3.1 percent.
