CORNWALL — Robert Jonathan Beecher, 59, of Cornwall Village passed away on May 25, 2011, at New Milford Hospital. The cause was cancer.

He graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1969. In 1971 he ran the Popple Swamp Trading Co. in West Cornwall with his brother, Dana. After the store closed, Rob moved to New York City to pursue a career in photography. For the next 20 years he owned or managed a series of commercial photography studios.

Over the Memorial Day weekend in 1987, he married Guion Alworth of Pittsburg, Pa., in a ceremony at the family home in Cornwall Village. Though the marriage ended in divorce, their only child, Delaney, remained an important part of Rob’s life.

Rob moved back to the Northwest Corner in 2006 and became well-known as an artisanal baker.

He is survived by his daughter, Delaney Beecher, 17, of New Jersey; and two brothers, Christopher William Beecher of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Dana Ward Beecher of Cornwall.

A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m., Sunday, June 12, at the United Church of Christ in Cornwall.

The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon has charge of the arrangements.
