Richard J. Carroll

AMENIA — Richard J. Carroll, 76, of Lake Amenia Road passed away Aug. 7, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 4, 1935, in Sharon, a son of Florence (Brunese) Carroll of Amenia and the late John J. Carroll.

Richard was a self-employed landscaper and also was involved in the scrap metal business.

He was an avid outdoorsman and a devoted fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and NASCAR.

In addition to his mother, Richard is survived by four brothers, John Jr., Alan, Philip and William, all of Amenia; two sisters, Jean Leggett of Amenia and Ursula Robertson of Largo, Fla.; an uncle, William Brunese of Millerton; an aunt, Arietta Carroll of Amenia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas Carroll and Joseph Carroll Sr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Roman Cathlic Church in Amenia.

Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
