Passiflora hosts Garden of Drums

NEW HARTFORD — Jami Ray of Bristol, who is also known as “Conga Jay,” was the host of a drum circle at Passiflora Tea Room and Café in New Hartford on Thursday, Aug. 4. Ray brought hand drums big and small for players including Winsted resident Fran Devevo.

“I have been drumming for more than 10 years and I just can’t stop,” Ray said. “The energy and the community of the earth is based on rhythm. For time, we call that rhythm a calendar. To me, everything has a heartbeat, and that’s what these Garden of Beats events are about.”
