Myra J. Haab

MILLERTON — Myra J. Haab, 90, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully at her winter home in Lady Lake, Fla.

Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Mineola, Long Island, Myra was the daughter of Ada (Nichols) and Albert J. Smith.

She graduated from Mineola High School and attended secretarial school in New York City. In Mineola she met Bernie Haab, the love of her life. The two were married on Sept. 30, 1942, in a marriage that lasted for 68 years.

After spending their early years on a small farm in Carmel, N.Y., Myra and Bernie moved to the farm on Skunks Misery Road in Millerton, where they resided for the next 60 years. Myra enjoyed her life as wife and mother.Farm life, especially in the early years, presented many challenges, but Myra took them in stride.She loved her family and was always there for them when needed.There were seldom empty seats at her dinner table.

In their later years, Myra and Bernie spent their summers in Millerton and their winters in Lady Lake, where she made a good home and enjoyed dancing, playing cards with friends and going out to breakfast.

In addition to her husband, Myra is survived by two sons, David Haab and his wife, Michele, of Millerton and Chris Haab of Millerton and Lady Lake; and two grandchildren, Erin Haab of Centreville,Va., and Dan Haab of Austin, Texas.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
