Man accused of trying to ignite parked car

NORTH CANAAN — A domestic dispute at a Barracks Road home June 24 resulted in the warrant arrest of a local man.

Christopher Toomey, 55, whose address was listed as 6 Barracks Road, allegedly tried to set a car on fire with a person in it. He was arrested June 27 after an investigation.

According to the warrant, Toomey got into an argument with Karen Deitch, of the same address, who slapped him in the face. Toomey disabled a vehicle after Deitch got into it. He then doused it with gasoline and lit a stick on fire, with the apparent intention of igniting the car.
