Ivan A. Chodan Sr.

AMENIA — Ivan A. Chodan Sr., 83, a longtime resident of Amenia, died May 6, 2011, at Sharon Health Care Center. Mr. Chodan was a farmer who worked for several years at Bel Aire Farm in Amenia.

He was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Sheldon, Wis., the son of the late Emily (Gorla) and John Chodan. On April 18, 1952, he married Malvina Bellich in Trieste, Italy. She survives at home. Mr. Chodan served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jimmy Chodan and his wife, Maureen, of Millerton and Ivan A. Chodan Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Kissimmee, Fla.; two daughters, Vivian Bartone and her husband, Michael, of Salem, Ore., and Christine Chodan of Stanfordville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, David and Robert Chodan; a sister, Irene Epperly; and a grandson, Joseph Bartone.

Funeral services were held May 10, the Rev. William Mayhew officiating. Burial followed at Amenia Island Cemetery in Amenia.
