Housing Trust tops list for state grant requests

SHARON — At a special meeting on June 10, the Board of Selectmen made a final decision on a state Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grant application. First Selectman Robert Loucks and Selectmen John Mathews and Meg Szalewicz were all in attendance.

Loucks said Sharon was eligible to submit an application for up to a $500,000 grant. Applying for the authorized maximum grant amount does not mean it will be automatically granted. While the Sharon 2010 STEAP application was for $305,000, only $77,000 was awarded by the state.
