Geo-whiz Rhys Snyder

KENT — Kent Center School eighth-grader Rhys Snyder won the school’s geography bee on Monday, Jan. 10.

Rhys was the last one standing out of a group of 12 students — the four finalists from classroom competitions in grades six, seven and eight.

The 13-year-old has always had an interest in geography and history.

“I like learning how things work, and how we lived in the past and how things are done now,” he said.

Rhys is a well-rounded student, but his favorite subject is math — though he seems to be doing just fine with his other subjects as well.
