FEMA opens disaster centers
The Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have opened nine Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) to assist individuals, households and businesses that suffered damage from Tropical Storm Irene and the subsequent flooding.
Residents are strongly encouraged to register first with FEMA and then come into the DRCs with follow-up questions or concerns. Register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) (TTY 800-462-7585).
