End of an era as Hunt switches to computer catalog


FALLS VILLAGE — A guessing game: There is something missing at the D.M. Hunt Library.

It’s large and heavy, and mostly made of wood.

And its twin is still there — for now. Give up? It’s the card catalog.

Library Director Erica Joncyk said about 9,000 titles of the library’s original collection of 27,000 titles have been entered into the new automated system. The effort is concentrated on new fiction, nonfiction, classics and children’s books.

It’s all done manually.

“We’re so behind,” sighed Joncyk. “But we’re having a good time.”
