Edna H. Spoor

NORTH CANAAN — Edna H. Spoor, 94, of South Canaan Road died Feb. 23, 2011, at Geer Village. She was the widow of Dr. Herbert J. Spoor.

Mrs. Spoor was born July 20, 1916, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of the late Kristina (Pacikonis) and Josef Aladovich.

She was a 1936 graduate of Simmons College and received her master’s degree in organic chemistry at Ohio State. During World War II she was a teacher. She later managed her husband’s medical practice in New York City. She helped run the Fieve Foundation for Manic Depression for several years.

She lived in Gramercy Park in New York City for many years and chaired the admissions as well as the opera committees and served as a governor and governor emeritus of the National Arts Club in New York for more than 30 years.

She is survived by two sons, Frederick W. Spoor of Sharon and Dr. Thomas C. Spoor of Michigan and Florida; and her two grandchildren, Stephen and Kristen.
