CORNWALL — Students at Cornwall Consolidated School saw the democratic process in action as they voted on who will be the recipients of funds raised at the walkathon, planned for Oct. 14.

The annual fundraiser has become a highly successful way for students to raise money toward their eighth-grade class trip. And some money is always given to deserving organizations within the community and beyond.

The walkathon was started nine years ago as a way to eliminate the succession of fundraisers needed to fund the trip, which was often a tedious, time-consuming approach.
