Aurore L. O’Neil

WINSTED — Aurore L. O’Neil, 90, formerly of Winsted and Colebrook, died Feb. 9, 2011, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington following a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Terence J. O’Neil, who died in 2008.

Born in St. Raphael, Quebec, Canada, she came to the United States as a young girl and had lived in this area most of her life. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at SCASCO and at Holiday Handicraft, both in Winsted.

She attended local schools and was a graduate of The Gilbert School, class of 1939. She was a communicant of St. Joseph church and a member of the Catholic Women’s Club, with whom she bowled.

Her survivors include three sons, Terence P. O’Neil of Winsted, Timothy J. O’Neil and his wife, Gail, of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Shawn O’Neil of Colebrook; a sister, Noella Burns of Winsted; eight grandchildren, Daniel O’Neil, Sean O’Neil, Collin O’Neil, Shannon Manchester and her husband, Jeffrey, Ashley O’Neil, Caitlin O’Neil, Amy Longhi and Matthew Pardue; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Brian O’Neil; eight brothers, Edward, Nere, Antonio, Joseph, Paul, Rene, Lucian and Armand Picard; and three sisters, Annette Lufkin, Eva Brochu and Marie Anna Turgeon.

Funeral services were held Feb. 16 from the Maloney Funeral Home to St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph New Cemetery in the spring.
