Agreement allows Bate retirement


CORNWALL — At a special meeting of the Board of Selectmen on Aug. 17, an agreement was reached with transfer station worker Fred Bate that he would retire from the job he has held for 11 years.

The purpose of the meeting was described as “job performance.” Bate elected to waive the option of it being held in an executive session, which would have been closed to the public and the press.

However, the only people at the public meeting were the board members and clerk Joyce Hart.
