Ronald A. Bartizek

LAKEVILLE — Ronald A. Bartizek, 72, of Dallas, Pa., died Sept. 6, 2019,  in Dallas. The cause of death was complications of multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, which was diagnosed in 2010.

Ron was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Willimantic, Conn., the son of the late Phyllis (Hoxie) and Albert Bartizek. At that time, the family lived in Lebanon, where both the Hoxie and Bartizek families had been engaged in farming. He was a 1965 graduate of Windham High School and attended the University of Connecticut at Storrs and Northwood Institute in Midland, Mich.

Jeanne L. Allen

WASSAIC — Jeanne L. Allen, 90, a longtime resident of Wassaic, passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2019, at her home in Wassaic, surrounded by her loved ones. 

Ms. Allen was the director of pupil personnel services at Valley Stream Central School District, retiring in 1984. 

Born on June 19, 1929, in Tannersville, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Suzanne (Worth) and Harold Allen. 

In appreciation: Augusta ‘Dolly’ Taylor

The family of Augusta “Dolly” Taylor would like to extend our gratitude to  the nursing staff at Geer Nursing for their care and compassion for Dolly for the past 11 years.

The staff at Geer makes all the difference, especially  at Cardinal Court. Their ability and willingness to go above and beyond their normal duties is truly amazing. 

And a special recognition to nursing assistant Leslie and nurses Mary and Dan. A heartfelt thank you to all of  you.

Mrs. Taylor passed away on Aug. 22, 2019, at 91 years of age. 

Shawna Rae Westfall

COPAKE — Shawna Rae Westfall died Sept. 3, 2019.

Shawna was born May 16, 1994, to Martin and Patricia (Hart) Westfall in Sharon. She lived in Copake, N.Y. 

She was a Daisy and Brownie in the Girls Scouts of America. She was also in the Hoofers 4H group and showed her calf at the Chatham Fair and she would later train the calves for the fair.

She was baptized at the Ancramdale Presbyterian Church and had her First Communion at St. Bridget’s Church in Copake Falls.

Margaret Ann (Shannon) Parker

SALISBURY — Margaret Ann (Shannon) Parker, 69, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Kill Devil Hills, N.C., on Aug. 28, 2019. She was a  longtime resident of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., and Salisbury. 
She was the wife of Charles V. Parker. They shared 47 years of marriage together.
Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.,  she was the daughter of George and Alice Shannon.

Anthony J. ‘Serge’ Sergio

STANFORDVILLE — Anthony J. “Serge” Sergio, 96, passed away on Sept. 2, 2019, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, N.Y.  

He was born on July 9, 1923, in Manhattan in New York City, the son of John and Catherine (Marinaro )  Sergio. 

He spent his working years in the city. 

He was owner and operator of Sergio Waterproofing Company until he retired 25 years ago in Stanfordville. 

Joseph Jaklitsch

SALISBURY — Joseph Jaklitsch, 73, passed away in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 31, 2019, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. 

For 16 years, Joe was the owner and proprietor of The Roast Coffee house, in Lakeville and Salisbury.  

During its existence, The Roast was known as the heart and soul of the community. His warmth and kindness endeared him to his many friends and customers. 

Myron Joel ‘Mike’ Rindsberg

MILLERTON — The world got a little smaller on July 29, 2019, when Myron Joel Rindsberg (known as “Mike” by his many friends and “Mr. Rindsberg” by the countless number of students he mentored) passed away. He’d had a good run, however, as he’d been born in New York City 89 years earlier, on Jan. 8, 1930. 

Lori Ann Morrison

AMENIA — Lori Ann Morrison, 48, a resident of Hyde Park, N.Y., passed away on Aug. 28, 2019, in Hyde Park, N.Y. 

Born on July 2, 1971, in Sharon, she was the daughter of Joyce (Delong) and Kenneth Morrison of Amenia. 

In addition to her parents, Lori is survived by a brother, Kevin Morrison of Amenia; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Lori will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

John Pelham Curtis

MILLERTON — John Pelham Curtis, 1938-2019, a beloved retired physician who had moved to northeastern Dutchess County in 1971 to practice internal medicine, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at the family home on Sharon Station Road after a long illness. He was 81.

Let it be said up front that John was a self-effacing fellow and that going on at any length about him in his earshot would have been excruciating. These remarks proceed in cheerful defiance of his modesty.
