Bernard M. Veilleux

NORFOLK—Bernard M. Veilleux, 52, of Greenwoods Road died at his home on Feb. 25, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Veilleux was born in LaMesa, Calif., on Dec. 22, 1958, the son of Virginia Landon of Tennessee and the late Bernard Albrico Sr.

Mr. Veilleux worked as a machinist for New England Miniature Ball in Norfolk for more than 20 years. He also was an avid motorcyclist.

Edna H. Spoor

NORTH CANAAN — Edna H. Spoor, 94, of South Canaan Road died Feb. 23, 2011, at Geer Village. She was the widow of Dr. Herbert J. Spoor.

Mrs. Spoor was born July 20, 1916, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of the late Kristina (Pacikonis) and Josef Aladovich.

She was a 1936 graduate of Simmons College and received her master’s degree in organic chemistry at Ohio State. During World War II she was a teacher. She later managed her husband’s medical practice in New York City. She helped run the Fieve Foundation for Manic Depression for several years.

Barbara A. Henrickson

WINSTED — Barbara A. Henrickson, 73, died unexpectedly Feb. 18, 2011. She was the loving wife of Larry W. Henrickson Jr. for 43 years.

Born May 6, 1937, in Winsted, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Gidman) and Kenneth Johnson. She graduated from The Gilbert School in 1955, followed by Becker College in Worcester, Mass.

Lois Bull

NORFOLK — Lois (Thomson) Bull, 88, died Feb. 17, 2011. She was the widow of Perle Bull, who died in 1992.

Born June 7, 1922, in Monterey, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Jared and Beulah (Hyde) Thomson. She was a longtime resident of Norfolk.

She enjoyed square and Scottish-English dancing and loved gardening.

She is survived by a son, Jared M. Bull of Manchester; a daughter, Donna B. Kelley of Winsted; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Marion Thomson.

Kathleen Brown

TORRINGTON — Kathleen “Kay” Brown, 92, of Valerie Manor, Torrington, died Feb. 15, 2011, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the widow of Raymond H. Brown following 30 years of marriage.

She was born on March 21, 1918, in Winsted, daughter of the late Alice (Chatfield) and Thomas Gurney.

Louise K. Behn

SHARON — Louise K. Behn of Trumbull, Conn., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Feb. 15, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Laura DeBoer, in Sharon. She was the widow of John “Jack” H. Behn.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Hilda (Morley) and Henry Kell. She became a United States citizen following her marriage. She and Jack lived in Southport and Fairfield before settling in Trumbull for nearly 57 years.

Louise’s greatest joy was being a homemaker, wife and loving mother.

William Genito

SALISBURY — William Genito, 86, died at Noble Horizons on Feb. 12, 2011. He was the husband of Rose (Millies) Genito.

Bill was born Sept. 9, 1924, the son of Giustina (Anelli) and Ralph Genito.

A graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, he served as a Marine in World War II in the South Pacific. Bill was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign wars.

He volunteered for decades with the Lakeville Hose Company.

Bill worked at the Salisbury School for many years, until his retirement.

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Stanton) Griffiths

SALISBURY — Elizabeth “Betty” (Stanton) Griffiths passed away suddenly at her home in Beverly Hills, Fla., on Feb. 14, 2011.

She was born in New Haven, Conn., on Nov. 14, 1926, the daughter of Jessie and William Stanton.

In 1947, she married the love of her life, Douglas C. Griffiths, of Brooklyn, N.Y., with whom she shared 42 years of her life. They raised their family in Salisbury.

Betty and Doug retired to Beverly Hills in 1985, where they enjoyed the winter warmth and the hospitality of their new friends and neighbors.

Jean Gavin Perretti

WINSTED — Jean Gavin Perretti died Feb. 16, 2011, at the age of 81. She was the widow of John F. “Jack” Perretti, who died Aug. 13, 2010.

She was the daughter of Laura and Clarence Gavin and was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Wallingford, Conn., where she graduated from the Lyman Hall High School in 1947.

She continued her education and studied art at the Wilcox Technical School in Meriden, Conn. (1948), the Parsons School of Design in Manhattan (1949), and the Traphagen School of Design in Manhattan, where she eventually earned her degree in 1950 with an emphasis in exhibit design.

Henry ‘Harry’ N. Orphal

STANFORDVILLE, N.Y. — Henry “Harry” N. Orphal, 86, passed away Feb. 16, 2011, at home. He was the husband of Betty M. (Depken) Orphal, whom he married in Queens, N.Y., on Jan. 2, 1949.

He was born in Queens on Dec. 12, 1924, the son of the late Elsie and Henry G. Orphal.

Mr. Orphal was owner and operator of Glendale Plumbing & Heating Company in Queens.

He grew up in Stanfordville and graduated from Pine Plains High School. He returned in 1991 to retire in Stanfordville.
