Stanley M. Segalla

NORTH CANAAN — Stanley M. Segalla, 97, of Ashley Falls Road died March 31, 2011, at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan. He was the husband of Anita R. (Cantele) Segalla. Stanley was born in North Canaan on March 5, 1914, to the late Justina (Pasin) and John Segalla.

Stanley owned the Stateline Package Store in North Canaan. He opened the business in 1950, and ran the business for 56 consecutive years until he retired in 2006.

Marion Winsor

MILLERTON — Marion Winsor, 84, recently of Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan, died on April 3, 2011.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 16, 1927, daughter of Eurie Inkpen and Henry George Rice.

She was a member of the North East Baptist Church in Millerton and of the Central Baptist Church of Canton, Ohio.

Anita (Kollstede) Westsmith

LAKEVILLE — Mrs. Anita (Kollstede) Westsmith, 98, a longtime resident of the Lakeville area, passed away peacefully at her home on April 4, 2011.

Anita was born Feb. 17, 1913, in Providence, R.I. She attended Dana Hall School, and studied fashion design both in New York and Paris at the Parsons School of Design and the Sorbonne.

She and her father left Paris in 1936, and moved to Coronado, Calif., where she met and married her husband, Dr. Richard Alan Westsmith, with whom she had a happy marriage of almost 60 years.

Elsie McBroom

PINE PLAINS — Elsie McBroom, 86, passed away on April 1, 2011, at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie.
She was born Dec. 20, 1924, in New York City, the daughter of the late Rose (Arce) and Emanuel Jiminez.

Mrs. McBroom worked in manufacturing for K & E Taconic Products in Millerton.
She was a hardworking mother and loving wife who loved animals.

Leona R. Bonhotel

SHARON — Leona R. Bonhotel, 89, formerly of Sharon, passed away April 3, 2011, at the Pinehaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Irving W. Bonhotel, who died in 1972.

She was born in North Canaan on Dec. 27, 1921. She and her husband were employed at the Wike farm in Sharon. She also worked as a cook in Lakeville for the Hubbard family and for many years was a therapy aide at the Taconic DDSO in Wassaic. She enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo and card games.

LAKEVILLE — A memorial service for Anita Westsmith, 98, who died April 4, 2011, will be held at the Salisbury Congregational Church on Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the care of the Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon.

Donald L. Reese

WINSTED — Donald L. Reese, 63, of Crescent Street passed away on March 24, 2011, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington following a short illness. He was the husband of Kathie (Carl) Reese.

Born in Oneida, N.Y., on Nov. 1, 1947, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Harrington) Reese. He had lived here most of his life.

Dorothy L. Nash

WINSTED — Dorothy L. Nash, 85, of Florence Street, passed away March 25, 2011, at the UConn Medical Center in Farmington, following a lengthy illness.

She was the widow of Edward H. Nash Sr., who died in 2001.

Born in Winsted May 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Marion F. (Barden) and Frank A. Madin. She had lived here all of her life.

She was a graduate of The Gilbert School, class of 1943, and worked at Pratt and Whitney during World War II and later as a bookkeeper/accountant for Madin’s Garage in Winsted.
