John T. Bowen

SHARON — John T. Bowen, 63, died March 17, 2011, in New York City. He lived in Sharon and New York City.

He is survived by his son, Jonathan, and daughter-in-law, Kathleen, and granddaughter, Shaelyn, all of Setauket, N.Y.; and a brother, Stephen G. Bowen of Sharon.

A memorial Mass will be held April 1 at 1 p.m. at St. Bridget’s Church in Cornwall Bridge.

Memorial donations may be sent to Sharon Hospital.

Leonie (Elliot) Miller

SALISBURY — Leonie (Elliot) Miller, 95, of Salisbury, died on March 21, 2011, after an unexpected, brief illness.

Born on July 4, 1915, in the great gold fields town of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, she was the daughter of Agnes and Burton Elliot.

In 1936, she met F. Stuart Miller, an American geologist, who was doing field survey work around Kalgoorlie for a mining company. They were married in 1939, in Berkeley, Calif., where Stuart was teaching geology. Three years later, she gave birth to her only child, Elliot Miller, in Washington, D.C., in 1942.

John Michael Degener

SHARON — John Michael Degener, 77, known as Michael, died March 20, 2011, while vacationing on the Caribbean island of Mustique in the West Indies. He suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while snorkeling off a reef on the Cotton House beach.

Born in New York City on July 11, 1933, Mr. Degener was the son of the late Nouche Lucien-Robert and George Ludwig Degener Jr.

Jean Snow

MILLERTON — Jean Snow, 90, formerly of Millerton, died peacefully on March 10, 2011, at Sharon Health Care Center. Her husband, William, predeceased her in 2004, while they were residing in Arizona. She was born in New York City on Oct. 11, 1920, to Fannie and John Bruscini.

She and her husband, “Bill,” came to Millerton in 1952 from Bronx, N.Y., after spending several summers at Taconic State Park with their three daughters.

Jo Anne Danforth

SHARON — Jo Anne Danforth, 74, of Dalton, Mass., died March 20, 2011, at her home. She was the widow of James R. Danforth, who died April 21, 2007. They married Sept. 12, 1959, at St. Bernard’s Church in Sharon.

She was born in Sharon on Feb. 26, 1937, a daughter of Margaret (Humeston) and William Pitcher. She was educated in Sharon and Falls Village schools, and was a 1955 graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School. She continued her education and, in 1958, graduated from the Henry W. Bishop Memorial School of Nursing in Pittsfield.

William Warren Bartlett

SALISBURY — William Warren Bartlett, 75, died suddenly on March 25, 2011, at his home in Chappaqua, N.Y. His wife, Francoise, passed away on March 7, 2011.

They married in 1960, lived most of their lives in Chappaqua and spent summers at their family camp on Mount Riga in Salisbury.

Bill was born on March 14, 1936, the son of Kathryn (Clark) and Lewis Hall Bartlett. His mother was a daughter of Raymond Clark, a physician practicing in Brooklyn, N.Y., and a longtime Mount Riga summer resident.

Joseph D. Mori

WINSTED — Joseph D. Mori, 90, formerly of 86 Maple St., died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Nash) Mori, who died last June.

Mildred H. Hubbard

WINSTED — Mildred H. “Millie” Hubbard, 88, of Chestnut Street, died March 17, 2011, at Yale New Haven Hospital, as the result of a ruptured aorta. She was the widow of George E. Hubbard, who died in 2003.

Born in Winsted on Jan. 15, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Mary (Brown) and Louis Boutin. She had lived here most of her life.

Margaret E. Giannatasio

WINSTED — Margaret E. Giannatasio, 93, of Chestnut Street, died March 20, 2011, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington following a short illness. She was the widow of Francis Giannatasio, who died in 1995.

Born in Winsted on July 14, 1917, she was daughter of the late Christina (Gentile) and Frederick Radocchio. She had lived here all of her life.

Constance E. Barber

WINSTED — Constance E. “Connie” Barber, 89, of Colebrook River Road, died March 20, 2011, at Laurel Hill Health Care, following a long illness. She was the wife of James J. Barber.
