James W. Carroll

AMENIA — James W. Carroll, 46, died March 7, 2011, at Sharon Hospital. He was the husband of Helene (McGhee) Carroll, whom he married in Amenia on Feb. 28, 1987.

Born Feb. 13, 1965, in Sharon, he was the son of Judith (Baker) and Philip T. Carroll.

Mr. Carroll owned and operated JWC Lawn Care in Amenia. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed farming, and participating with his daughters in 4-H.

Nancy Offenhauser

AMENIA — Nancy Offenhauser, D.C., who maintained a neighborhood chiropractic office in Amenia since 1995, died suddenly of cardiac arrest on March 7, 2011.

Born Dec. 30, 1948, and raised in New Canaan, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Helen and Bill Offenhauser.

Dr. Offenhauser, a familiar and popular resident of Amenia, was a 1970 graduate of Smith College and later of National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Ill., where she also studied acupuncture.

David C. Greenwood Jr.

NEW HARTFORD — David C. Greenwood Jr., 60, died March 4, 2011, at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was the loving husband of Mary Beth (Carver) Greenwood for 18 years.

Born July 3, 1950, in Hartford, he was a son of David C. Greenwood Sr. and the late Doris (Blaha) Greenwood.

Mary Jeanne Hillman

BARKHAMSTED — Mary Jeanne Hillman, 78, died Feb. 23, 2011. She was the loving wife of the Rev. William Hillman for 53 years. She was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Albany, N.Y.

Mary Jeanne graduated from Keuka College and met her husband while working for the Chicago Baptist Association. Together they served in ministries in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Leonce Joseph Leblond

WINSTED — Leonce Joseph Leblond died Feb. 28, 2011, at Laurel Hill Healthcare Facility in Winsted. He was the loving husband of the late Theresa (Rodrigue) Leblond.

Born Jan. 13, 1922, in Plainfield, he was the son of the late Emma (Brodeur) and Edmond Leblond. Leonce was a veteran of World War II serving in South America. He retired from Boeing Aircraft in California, where he was employed for many years.

Ruth Mae White

NORFOLK — Ruth Mae (Barnes) White, 92, of Newburyport., Mass., died Feb. 20, 2011. She was the widow of John C. White Jr.

Ruth was born on Nov. 27, 1918, in Winsted, daughter of the late Abbie R. (Leffingwell) and Charles E. Barnes.

She was director of medical records at Anna Jacques Hospital from 1958 to 1972.

Robert M. Stair

NORTH CANAAN — Robert M. Stair, 76, died peacefully on Feb. 27, 2011, at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Canaan.

Bob was born March 31, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Virginia and Millington Stair. He earned a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University and master’s degrees from Drew University and the University of Minnesota.

From 1957 to 1967, he was the minister of Methodist churches in Sharon and Millerton, and then was the Methodist minister in Hyde Park, N.Y.

Carol Stewart

NORTH CANAAN — Carol Stewart, 75, the widow of Daniel Stewart, died March 6, 2011.

Carol was a proud member of the volunteer ambulance squad in North Canaan.

She is survived by her four sons, Daniel, Eric, William and Kyle Stewart; her sister, Gwen Lorenzo; her granddaughters, Abigail and Sydney; and her grandsons, Daniel, Alasdair and Keegan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the North Canaan Volunteer Ambulance.

Calling hours and memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Elizabeth ‘Libby’ McClintock

SALISBURY — Elizabeth “Libby” McClintock, 66, died on March 2, 2011, following a riding accident in Colombia, South America.

Services will be announced at a later date and an obituary will be published in a future issue of The Lakeville Journal and Millerton News.

Arrangements are under the care of the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home.

Myra J. Haab

MILLERTON — Myra J. Haab, 90, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully at her winter home in Lady Lake, Fla.

Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Mineola, Long Island, Myra was the daughter of Ada (Nichols) and Albert J. Smith.

She graduated from Mineola High School and attended secretarial school in New York City. In Mineola she met Bernie Haab, the love of her life. The two were married on Sept. 30, 1942, in a marriage that lasted for 68 years.
