Thomas H. Glennon

NORTH CANAAN — Thomas H. Glennon, 86, died peacefully at his home in Tallahassee, Fla. on July 21, 2011.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia; his sons, Thomas and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Renee; and his grandchildren, Grace and Grant, all of Tallahassee.

Tom was born in Providence, R.I., on Jan. 14, 1925, the son of Mary (Doyle) and Patrick Glennon.

He served four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radioman second class.

Frances E. Kohl

AMENIA — Frances E. Kohl, 82, a 17-year resident of Amenia, formerly of Mamaroneck, N.Y., died on July 17, 2011, at home.

Born June 1, 1929, in Valhalla, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Frances (Nask) and Lawrence DeFazio.

She married Frank J. Kohl on June 3, 1951, in Mamaroneck.He survives at home.

Mrs. Kohl was a homemaker and a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia.

Elisabeth L. O’Loughlin

SALISBURY — Elisabeth L. O’Loughlin, 83, died at Noble Horizons on July 19, 2011.
Elisabeth was born in 1928, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Elisabeth (Simmons) and Thomas O’Loughlin.

She graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School and worked as an X-ray technician for many years at Winsted Memorial Hospital. She was a lifelong member of the American Registry of Nuclear Medicine.

She is survived by her brother, Thomas, of Newport, N.C.; her sister, Winifred Couture, of Dover Plains; and many nieces and nephews.

Pamela B. Way

PINE PLAINS — Pamela B. Way, 47, passed away on July 16, 2011, at Sharon Hospital.
She was born in Burlington, Vt., on Aug. 4, 1963, the daughter of Robert R. Barry of Maine and Diana (Smith) MacCallum of Maryland.
Pam was a produce clerk for Grand Union in Millerton.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Dover.
On Aug. 16, 2003, in Pine Plains, she married Kevin R. Way. He survives at home.

Randall Nielsen

NORTH CANAAN — Randall Nielsen, 86, passed away July 17, 2011, at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Randy was born June 28, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Ragna B. and Frank Meidle Nielsen.

He served in World War II as a carpenter’s mate third class with the 127th Navy Seabees from 1943 to 1946, receiving the American Theater, Asiatic Pacific, Philippine Liberation and Victory medals.

Edward Zionce

NORTH CANAAN — Edward Zionce, 93, of Burlington, Conn., husband of the late Florence (Konopka) Zionce, died July 23, 2011, at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Nov. 13, 1917, the son of the late Katherine (Kochan) and Joseph Zionce and lived in Burlington for more than 60 years.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. He entered active service in 1942, and served in several European campaigns. He was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars along with other military decorations.

Mary Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Sylvernale

LAKEVILLE — Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Sylvernale, 88, of East Hartford, Conn., and Ashland, N.H., died at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, N.H., on July 15, 2011, following a brief illness.

She was born in Lakeville on Jan. 12, 1923, the daughter of Ruth (Piester) and George Sylvernale. She grew up in Lakeville and graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

Following her school years she was employed at Pratt & Whitney for a short period. She later was employed at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company in Hartford, retiring after 36 years.

Shirley Elizabeth (Tanner) Rivard

MILLERTON — Shirley Elizabeth (Tanner) Rivard, 54, passed away July 23, 2011, at her residence after a long and brave battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 20, 1956, in Sharon, the daughter of Bertha (McCauley) and Arthur Tanner.

Shirley was an amazing person, who selflessly dedicated her time to taking care of others. She recently retired from Taconic DDSO in Wassaic, after serving there for 34 years.

John Richard Kascenska

MIDDLETOWN SPRINGS, Vt. — John Richard Kascenska, 78, of Middletown Springs, formerly of Winsted, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2011, at his home following a long illness, with his wife and family by his side.

He was born on Oct. 31, 1932, in Winsted, the son of O. Helen (Tamminen) and John J. Kascenska.

Calling hours were held Wednesday, July 20, at the Aldous Funeral Home in Rutland.

Graveside services will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 22, in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph.
