Frances (Farley) Kipp

AMENIA — Frances (Farley) Kipp, 87, a longtime resident of Amenia, died Sept. 24, 2011, at Sharon Hospital.

She was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Hudson Falls, N.Y., the daughter of the late Ella May (Hill) and Fred A. C. Farley.

Mrs. Kipp was a vocational rehabilitation assistant at the Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic for 25 years before retiring in 1985.

She married Ward Bynon Kipp Jr. on Sept. 24, 1944, in Amenia. He died Jan. 31, 2011. Mrs. Kipp and her husband, owned and operated the Amenia Drive-In Theatre from 1965 to 1985.

George A. P. Wallace

LAKEVILLE — George A. P. Wallace, 85, a longtime resident of the Northwest Corner, died at his home in Lakeville on Sept. 25, 2011. He was a professional engineer who dedicated much of his career to promoting the adoption of energy-saving technologies in home and industrial heating and cooling.

Mr. Wallace came from a long line of Scottish explorers, soldiers, industrialists and engineers.

WINSTED — William Joseph Patrick Darcey, 74, of Torrington and formerly Winsted, died Sept. 14, 2011. Funeral services are private. A celebration will be held at St. Maron’s Church, Torrington, on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. Cook Funeral Home, Torrington, has care of arrangements.

Eugene Jackie Bourquin

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Eugene Jackie Bourquin, 75, died peacefully Sept. 6, 2011, at the Malcolm Randall Veteran’s Hospital in Gainesville.

Jack will be sorrowfully missed for his love and wonderful sense of humor by those who shared his life, especially his loving life partner, Christine L. Gillette of Dunnellon, Fla.

MILLERTON — Jonah Taylor, infant son of Jessica and Daniel Taylor of Millerton, died Aug. 26, 2011, at Sharon Hospital.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Blake Taylor of Millerton; his maternal grandparents, Michael and Carol Lyman of Millerton; his paternal grandparents, Thomas Taylor and his wife, Lynn, of Copake, and Ellen Jaquis and her husband, Thomas, of Portland, Ind.; his maternal great-grandmother, Jean Hansell of Lakeville; his paternal great-grandparents, George and Jean Taylor of Dover Plains; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

SALISBURY — A celebration of the life of Charlotte (Hall) Reid, who died at the age of 93 on Aug. 20, 2011, will be held at the Congregational Church of Salisbury on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m.

Sarah Jane (Davis) Wortman

HARWINTON — Sarah Jane (Davis) Wortman, 77, died Aug. 23, 2011, at Laurel Hill Nursing Home in Winsted. She was the widow of Lowell K. Wortman Sr. They were married for 55 years.

She was born on April 14, 1934, the daughter of the late Frances (Sherwood) and Elmore Davis of Bakerville, Conn.

Sarah loved to travel, especially to Maine. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including cooking, playing canasta, knitting, tatting and ceramics.

Olga A. (Perotti) Broggi

NORTH CANAAN — Olga A. (Perotti) Broggi, 94, of South Canaan Road, formerly of Sheffield, died Sept. 8, 2011, at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Ricco Broggi, who died in 1965.

Olga was born in North Canaan on Oct. 30, 1916, the daughter of the late Domenica (Gigli) and Joseph Perotti.

Olga had eight brothers and sisters, and she was the last surviving member of her family. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in North Canaan and a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

John Gordon Dell

SALISBURY — John Gordon Dell, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 5, 2011.

John was born in Berkhamstead, England, on June 14, 1921, to Phyllis (Bedford) and Cyril Dell.

He enlisted in the Royal Air Force in 1939 and served seven years as a flight engineer in the United Kingdom and western Canada.

After the war he lived in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and worked at Standard Motor Cars and Vans.

John married Myra McCarthy in Toronto in 1949 and they immigrated to Sharon in 1954. John managed White Hollow Game Farm there for nearly 50 years.
