Kenneth J. Thompson

WASSAIC — Kenneth J. Thompson, 84, a longtime resident of Wassaic, died Sept. 11, 2011, at Sharon Health Care Center.

Mr. Thompson was a self-employed carpenter for over 20 years. He was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Kent, the son of the late Myrtle (Mitchell) and Howard Thompson. He married Margaret Murphy on June 28, 1947, in Amenia. She died on Dec. 29, 2010.

Kyle Robert Whelan

SHARON — Kyle Robert Whelan, of Baltimore, Md., passed away suddenly Sept. 1, 2011. He was 26.

Kyle is survived by his love, Sophie Hinderberger of Baltimore; his brothers, Ian and Kevin Whelan; and his parents, Pat and Bob Whelan of Sharon; his grandparents, Mary and James Woodhouse; his aunts and uncles, Steve and Patty Woodhouse, Jamie and Tom Butka and Jeff and Halina Whelan; his cousins, Kate and Jamie Woodhouse and Tommy and Rachel Butka; and an incredible number of friends and acquaintances who he had touched in his time with us.

Susan Hamilton Gifford-DeLeon

PLANTATION, Fla. — Susan Hamilton Gifford-DeLeon, 49, entrepreneur and co-owner of Brandel, Inc., died Aug. 22. 2011, near her home in Plantation, Fla. She was the wife of Benjamin DeLeon.

Mrs. Gifford-DeLeon, daughter to the late Norma and George Gifford, was born in Philadelphia, Pa. When she was a young child, the family moved to Winchester Center.

Esther M. Clark

SHARON — Esther M. Clark, 89, of Amenia Road died Aug. 31, 2011, at Sharon Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Hazard) and Albert E. Clark.

Esther was born in Sharon on Nov. 27, 1921. She was a graduate of the Sharon high school in 1939 and attended the Krissler Business School in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

She worked for Attorney Sully Burman in Sharon and then worked at the Sharon Colonial Bank. For many years she was a probate court judge for the town of Sharon. She loved to bowl in her free time.

Margaret (Halpin) Davidson

NORTH CANAAN — Margaret (Halpin) Davidson, 94, formerly of North Canaan, passed away Aug. 30, 2011, at Noble Horizons. She was the widow of Robert M. Davidson and for many years served as assessor for North Canaan.

She was born in Lenox, Mass., on April 25, 1917, and was the daughter of the late Margaret and Michael Halpin.

John G. Dell

SALISBURY — John G. Dell, 90, passed away at his home in Salisbury on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011. A full obituary will appear in the Sept. 15 Lakeville Journal and Millerton News.

Anne ‘Nancy’ (Rudd) Eddy

SALISBURY — Anne “Nancy” (Rudd) Eddy, 83, died at home Aug. 23, 2011, due to complications from a series of strokes.

Anne “Nancy” Kennard Rudd was born in Glenridge, N.J., on Oct. 24, 1928, to Emily (Hayward) and Theodore Oliver Rudd. She was the great-great granddaughter of the 23rd governor of Connecticut, Alexander Hamilton Holley, and the 11th generational descendant of Capt. John Holly (‘e’ added in 1790) and Lt. Jonathan Rudd, both of Connecticut.

Memorial - John Falconer Fisher III

SALISBURY — A celebration of the life of John “Jack” Falconer Fisher III will be held at Race Brook Lodge (Stagecoach) on Route 41 in Sheffield, Mass., on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 2 to 5 p.m. Jack passed away June 14, 2011, at the age of 97.

Cecelia Delores (Tanner) Ralph

EAST CANAAN — Cecelia Delores (Tanner) Ralph, 67, passed away at home on Aug. 30, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

She was born in North Canaan on Aug. 2, 1944, the daughter of the late Bertha (McCauley) Tanner and Arthur Tanner Sr. of Millerton.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard G. Ralph, with whom on Oct. 14 they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Richard Bradley Wells

SALISBURY —Richard Bradley Wells, 77, of Fairfield, Conn., passed away at his home on Sept. 1, 2011.

He was born Dec. 26, 1933, in Bridgeport, Conn., and graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield in 1951. Richard entered the U.S. Navy in 1953 and served aboard the USS Taconic until 1957.

He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed watching any team that beat the New York Yankees.
