Mabel ‘Mazie’ (Lawrenz) Perotti

NORTH CANAAN — Mabel “Mazie” (Lawrenz) Perotti, 87, of Lower Road, died May 27, 2011, at her home following an illness. She was the widow of Elio Perotti, who died in November 2006.

Mazie was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Liberty Corners, N.J., the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Cooper) and William Herman Lawrenz.

Mazie was a hairdresser. She operated Mazie’s Beauty Salon out of her home for nearly 40 years.

Ruth E. Morrison

MILLERTON — Ruth E. Morrison, 92, a lifelong resident of Millerton, died May 26, 2011, at Sharon Health Care Center.

She was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Millerton, the daughter of the late Serena (Husted) and Martin V. Conklin.

Mrs. Morrison was a graduate of Millerton High School and the Oneonta Normal School in Oneonta, N.Y., which later became the State University of New York at Oneonta.

Lily I. (Graham) McGarry

SALISBURY — Lily I. (Graham) McGarry passed away on May 23, 2011, at Sharon Health Care Center. She was the widow of James L. McGarry.

Lily was born in Glasgow, Scotland on April 22, 1916. She immigrated with her husband and children to Nova Scotia in 1948.

Two years later they moved to Lakeville and fell in love with the area. She lived in Lakeville most of her life. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Jordan V. Katz

Ancramdale — Jordan V. Katz, 85, passed away on May 22, 2011, at Noble Horizons in Salisbury.

He was born Nov. 9, 1925, in New Rochelle, N.Y., the son of the late Martha (Meltzer) and Herman Katz.

He was a member of the Ancram Zoning Board of Appeals. Mr. Katz was owner and operator of the Shoe String Farm in Ancramdale.

He married Alice Gordon on Aug. 29, 1948, in White Plains, N.Y. She survives him at home.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Katz and his wife, Kyle, of Colorado, and Andrew Katz of Florida.

Memorial tribute - Foxhall Parker Jones

SALISBURY — A memorial tribute to Foxhall Parker Jones, who died Feb. 27, 2011, will be held at the Sharon Country Club on Sunday, June 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. The family asks that you arrive promptly. There will be a reception following the tribute.

Robert Jonathan Beecher

CORNWALL — Robert Jonathan Beecher, 59, of Cornwall Village passed away on May 25, 2011, at New Milford Hospital. The cause was cancer.

He graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1969. In 1971 he ran the Popple Swamp Trading Co. in West Cornwall with his brother, Dana. After the store closed, Rob moved to New York City to pursue a career in photography. For the next 20 years he owned or managed a series of commercial photography studios.

David C. Stickles

MILLERTON — David C. Stickles, 69, died at his home in Millerton May 21, 2011, after a long battle with rectal cancer.

David was born May 13, 1942, in Hudson, N.Y., to the late Sylvia (Scism) and Raymond Stickles.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Millerton American Legion.

Barbara ‘Barb’ (Hill) Schenkel

SALISBURY — Barbara “Barb” (Hill) Schenkel, 78, of Undermountain Road died peacefully, with her family at her side, May 22, 2011, at Sharon Hospital. She was the wife of Rolf Schenkel.

Barb was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Stamford, Conn., the daughter of the late Alice (Baker) and Harry Hill.

She and her husband owned and operated the Ragamont Inn in Salisbury for more than 30 years. Barb was an avid golfer and bowler and so enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends.

Memorial service – Robert F. Rueger

ASHLEY FALLS — Graveside services with full military honors will be held for Robert F. Rueger on Saturday, June 4, at 2 p.m. in Ashley Falls Cemetery.

Bob died Feb. 6, 2011. He was the husband of Priscilla (Hall) Rueger.

Arrangements are under the care of the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan.

Memorial service – Jack Mahoney

FALLS VILLAGE —A celebration of the life of Jack Mahoney will be held Friday, June 10, at 5 p.m. at Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the 21st Century Fund Science & Technology Center, PO Box 132, Falls Village, CT 06031. Arrangements are under the care of the Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon.
