Martin Bogert

NORTH CANAAN — Martin Bogert, 58, of North Canaan passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, on June 27, 2019.

Martin was born on April 12, 1961, in Hialeah, Fla. 

Neil Carl Estern

WEST CORNWALL — Neil Carl Estern, born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 18, 1926, died on July 11, 2019.  

He was the only son of Molly  Sylbert and Marc J. Estern.

Neil grew up in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, near Prospect Park. He graduated from the High School of Industrial Art (now the High School of Art  and Design) in 1944.

He attended the Tyler School of Fine Art in Philadelphia, Pa., a division of Temple  University; and graduated in 1948 with a BFA as well as a BS in Education.

Vernon Keesler

MILLERTON — Vernon Keesler, 91, a 10-year resident of Hudson, N.Y., and former resident of Millerton, for more than 67 years, died peacefully on July 21, 2019, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. 

Mr. Keesler worked as a truck driver for18 years and also worked for the Town of North East Highway Department for 20 years, retiring on Jan. 5, 1990.

Born Oct. 1, 1927, in Barrytown, N.Y., he was the son of the late Marguerite (A’Barail) and Alva B. Keesler. 

Lara ‘Kim’ Bloodgood

PINE PLAINS —  Lara “Kim” Bloodgood, 64, passed away on July 16, 2019, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. 

She was born on Feb. 1, 1955 in Hudson, N.Y., the daughter of Alice (Frenzel) and Neils Hoyt Sr.

Kim was a cashier at Peck’s Market in Pine Plains.

On Aug. 14, 1976, in Stanfordville, N.Y., she married Eugene Bloodgood Sr. He survives her at home. 

Diana M. Ghi

NORTH CANAAN — Diana M. Ghi, 51, of Ashley Falls Road died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Friday, July 19, 2019, in Goshen.  

She was born July 9, 1968, at the former Winsted Hospital, daughter of Jill (Stackpole) Ghi and the late Anthony A. Ghi.  She was a life long resident of the town of North Canaan.

Diana was employed at Stadium Systems and worked for the North Canaan Board of Finance for many years. She also had worked as a waitress in a variety of restaurants throughout the Northwest Corner. 

Memorial concert: George G. Vincent

SALISBURY — A memorial concert for George G. Vincent (1921-2019) will take place on Wednesday, July 24, at 5 p.m., at St. John’s Church on Main Street. The concert is part of the summer series by the Northwest Music Association. George and his wife Virginia (Bunny) were avid supporters of the association and often could be found sitting front and center in order to hear every last note. Admission is free. A reception will follow.

Sharon Ann (Smithwick) Koneazny

SOUTHFIELD, Mass. — Sharon Ann (Smithwick) Koneazny, 51, of Southfield, Mass.,died unexpectedly, and too soon, on July 10, 2019.

Sharon was born Aug. 1, 1967, in Waterbury, Conn., to Ruth Ann (Howard) and Robert Smithwick.

The family moved to Salisbury when Sharon was young. Sharon attended Salisbury Central School and graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School a distinguished athlete, her field hockey and softball teams playing All State. 

Norman William Wilcox

SHARON — Norman William Wilcox passed away on July 13, 2019, at Sharon Hospital at the age of 91. 

He was the son of Julia (Bowne) and Albert D. Wilcox.  He lived all his life in Sharon. He was married to Catherine (Palmer) Wilcox for 65 years.

Norman dedicated his life to the family dairy farm until 1974. He then joined the Maintenance Department at Sharon Hospital, where he worked for 18 years.  

John Adam Moody

MILLERTON — John Adam Moody, 85, died June 27, 2019, at Inova Hospital in Lansdowne, Va. He had been a resident of Millerton for 51 years. 

John was born on Jan. 24, 1934, to the late Millie and Charles Moody.  

He married Mamie (Kornegay) Moody on Sept. 18, 1960.

All of us here in Salisbury should take pause.  A truly caring and devoted person recently left us.  Whitney North Seymour Jr. (“Mike”) died June 29, 2019, following his wife, Catryna, by a few months.
