Memorial George Kiefer binoculars

SALISBURY — On Sunday, Nov. 4, a few longtime friends and colleagues that the late George Kiefer developed over the years gathered at Bartholomew’s Cobble in Sheffield, Mass. A representative of The Trustees of Reservations, Thad Kubis, accepted the donation of two pairs of inscribed binoculars as a memorial honoring George for his decades of conducting bird walks and bird counts along the meandering Housatonic River flyway. 

Milton R. ‘Jody’ Killmer

SHARON — Milton R. “Jody” Killmer, 59, of Philmont, N.Y., passed away on Oct. 30, 2018, at his residence.

He was born on Sept. 30, 1959, in Sharon, a son of the late Charlotte (Brendline) and Raymond Killmer.

Jody had been employed for more than 40 years by Arnoff Moving and Storage in Millerton until his recent illness.

Raised in Millerton, Jody was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing along with tending to his gardens.

Courtney Jessica Worthington

FALLS VILLAGE — Courtney Worthington, 38, passed away on Oct. 19, 2018, after a long illness. 

Courtney was born on June 2, 1980, in New Britain, Conn. Growing up on Music Mountain in Falls Village, Courtney attended the Lee H. Kellogg School and Housatonic Valley Regional High School, then obtained a degree in English from Suffolk University in Boston.

Shirley May (Brazee) Leone

SALISBURY — Shirley May (Brazee) Leone, 76, of Salisbury died Oct. 20, 2018.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jay Leone.

Shirley was born in Salisbury on Dec. 14, 1941, the daughter of the late Charlotte (Sherman) and William Brazee.

She enjoyed camping, doing craft projects and being a homemaker.

Robert I. Turner Jr.

NORFOLK — Robert I. Turner Jr. ,“Pappy,” 68, formerly of North Canaan, died at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington on Oct. 15, 2018, surrounded by family.  

He was the husband of Anita C. (Hutchins) Turner; they were married for 45 years. 

Robert was born Dec. 18, 1949, in Great Barrington, son of the late Betty Ann (Rood) and Robert I. Turner Sr.

Robert was self-employed as a contractor. He worked extensively throughout the Tri-state area for many years.  

Robert Leicester Hall II

SALISBURY — Robert Leicester Hall II, 86, of Salisbury died peacefully on Jan. 2, 2018, of old age in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a gentle, kind, unconditionally loving, loyal and supportive husband, father, son, brother and friend to all who were privileged to know him.

Robert was born on Nov. 5, 1931, in Springfield, Mass., and was the son of the late Eugenie Theresa (Zeller) and Robert Leicester Hall. Mrs. Hall, after their divorce, later married Theodore Evans and she became Eugenie T. Evans. 

Marilyn L. (Markey) Minacci

NORTH CANAAN — Marilyn L. (Markey) Minacci, 80, passed away at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family on Oct. 15, 2018. 

Marilyn was born May 13, 1938, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Dorothy (Roger) and William Markey.

I’ve spent the better part of the past year missing Evan and trying to figure out how to thank many people for many kindnesses. When he died Oct. 24 last year I could not have anticipated how the support of this community would make such a difference in my life. I cannot find words that adequately convey my gratitude, but I will now belatedly try.

Daniel J. Sullivan

SHARON — Daniel J. Sullivan, 79, husband of Mary C. Farrell of Madison, Conn., passed away on Oct. 14, 2018, due to complications of pancreatic cancer. His family was by his side. 

He grew up in Stoughton, Mass., and attended Stoughton High School. In 1961, he graduated from Harvard University and earned his law degree at Columbia Law School in 1964. 

Shirley C. (Young) Betti

FALLS VILLAGE — Shirley C. (Young) Betti, 83, of Undermountain Road died Oct. 17, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, surrounded by her family.  She was the widow of Donald R. Betti Sr., who predeceased his wife on Oct. 7, 2004.  

Shirley was born in Enosburg, Vt., on Jan. 26, 1935, the daughter of the late Lillian (Playful) and Carlton Young.

Shirley was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother. Her passion in life was tending to her family. Her sense of humor made everyone laugh.
