LIME ROCK — There were 102 vehicles in the parade of historic cars that went from Lime Rock through Lakeville and Salisbury before winding up in downtown Falls Village, on Thursday, Aug. 31.

The parade left Lime Rock promptly at 4 p.m., and the first cars rolled into Falls Village about 40 minutes later.

They were greeted by Mark Alexander and Kelly Crine, of Mortal Beasts and Dieties, in white tie, tails and stilts.

Many of the cars were pure race cars. Some, such as the Chevrolet 10 pickup, were clearly not. And the 1929 Bentley was in a class by itself....

Webutuck modified teams celebrate the end of the season

WEBUTUCK— After another season of applying themselves on the court and track, the Webutuck modified teams celebrated their efforts and improvements with an end of the season party on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Starting at 2:30 p.m., students who participated in this year’s modified basketball and indoor track teams met in the Eugene Brooks Intermediate School (EBIS) gymnasium to celebrate their efforts with pizza. For dessert, they treated themselves to cupcakes decorated with the Webutuck school district’s green and white school colors.

Track and field team competes at West Point

PINE PLAINS — On Saturday, Feb. 24, the Stissing Mountain Track and Field Team competed in the Indoor State Qualifiers Meet at West Point.
The team brought seven athletes to compete who qualified by hitting the difficult minimum standards required.

MILLBROOK — History has shown that the Chinese may have been the first to use artificial means to attract fish to a hook, by attaching a feather. The method remained that simple until the early 19th century, when a variety of materials became available and changes made.
Bob Meyen, fly–fishing instructor at Orvis Sandanona, loves to fish. He also loves to make flies for fishing.

Jenna House breaks scoring recordm

PINE PLAINS— Finishing another season on the court earlier this month, the Pine Plains girls modified basketball team congratulated teammate Jenna House, 14, for breaking the scoring record for modified basketball.
An eighth-grader at Stissing Mountain Middle School, this year marks Jenna’s second and final year with the Pine Plains modified girls basketball team, yet her interest in basketball started back in elementary school.

Tackle fondling 2018

It’s only February, and my fishing madness is peaking. This has been an especially brutal winter, for some reason. 
Oh, yeah. It’s been cold.
Really cold. 
One of my brook trout streams was technically fish-able on Sunday, Jan. 28. I decided to wet a line. It was either that or the Pro Bowl.
So on Saturday I began the annual tackle fondling procedures. January is very early for tackle fondling. 
I snipped old leaders off lines, cleaned lines, took a stab at sorting out fly boxes.

Pine Plains varsity basketball defeats Onteora and Dover

PINE PLAINS —  Both the boys and girls varsity basketball teams at Stissing Mountain High School brought home victories following their games against Onteora High School on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
Starting at 5:30 p.m., the boys team competed in an away game at Onteora. The Bombers were led by Matt Funk with 21 points, followed by Jake Lydon with 16 points, Evan Proper with 14 points and Trevor Hurst with 13 points.
After being down 13 points at the half, Pine Plains triumphed 78-66 over Onteora.
