LIME ROCK — There were 102 vehicles in the parade of historic cars that went from Lime Rock through Lakeville and Salisbury before winding up in downtown Falls Village, on Thursday, Aug. 31.

The parade left Lime Rock promptly at 4 p.m., and the first cars rolled into Falls Village about 40 minutes later.

They were greeted by Mark Alexander and Kelly Crine, of Mortal Beasts and Dieties, in white tie, tails and stilts.

Many of the cars were pure race cars. Some, such as the Chevrolet 10 pickup, were clearly not. And the 1929 Bentley was in a class by itself....

A little hoop-la for the Blazers

A parade was held in Millbrook on Sunday, May 20, honoring Millbrook High School’s girls basketball team, which won the New York State Class C Championship this past winter. The banner says it all.

Student-built cars at Lime Rock Park

FALLS VILLAGE — Students from high schools across Connecticut gathered at Lime Rock Park to race electric cars that they had built from scratch at their schools. The Connecticut Electrathon was on Friday, May 18.
Students drove the cars on one  of the smaller tracks located in the in-field area at Lime Rock. Each school had one designated driver for their car. All the drivers raced on the track at the same time. However, the drivers did not race against each other.

Leaving it all out on the field

The Pine Plains varsity girls softball team added another win to its season record following a  home game against Taconic Hills High School on Tuesday, May 8. The game was held on the baseball field behind Stissing Mountain Junior/Senior High School. After an impressive performance on the field, Pine Plains defeated Taconic Hills with a final score of 8-6. Taconic Hills No. 15, Brandi Johnson, went for the ball as Stissing Mountain’s Paige Tegtmeier slid into first.

Stissing Mountain track triumphs as Division Champs

PINE PLAINS— Along with adding another victory to their spotless season record, the students athletes on the Pine Plains varsity spring track team became division champions following their meet against Millbrook on Wednesday, May 2.
The meet was held on the track behind Millbrook High School.

Pine Plains track team honors its seniors

PINE PLAINS — The Pine Plains varsity spring track team honored its senior athletes with a special recognition night following its meet against John A. Coleman High School on Tuesday, April 24.
Posted along the bleachers, a handful of the team’s underclassmen created posters celebrating the senior athletes while other players worked on speeches for the event.

Second Annual Wassaic Tractor Pull draws the community out into the open

WASSAIC— Despite the light spring rain, the Luther Barn welcomed a good-sized throng of local families and community members to the second annual Wassaic Tractor Pull on Sunday, May 6.
Following registration for the tractor pull at 7 a.m., the event brought forth a fine collection of participating tractors. While the majority of participating vehicles were antique models, the drivers made sure their tractors were top quality and running smoothly.

Pine Plains track adds another win

PINE PLAINS — Stissing Mountain Senior High School hosted Rhinebeck’s varsity spring track team in a meet behind the Pine Plains school on Wednesday, April 18. Both teams entered the meet with 1-0 dual meet records.
For the boys track team, Stissing Mountain senior Jeremy Dolansky won the 110 and 400 hurdles and placed second in the high jump and pole vault. Along with placing third in the long jump, Dylan Bartelin won the pole vault and ran on the winning 4 x 100 relay team.
